Lavender Knitted Baby Blanket

Another Baby Shower Gift Idea this blanket has the checkered  board pattern. It makes for a great swaddling blanket. I love the way knit has give to it, not stiff like crocheting.

Supplies:

Size 6 circular knitting needles 26 inches long.
Large baby soft yarn lavender or color of choice. 2 Balls.
Crochet hook size h for edging

Size: 33x33 inches.

Cast on 110 stitches to your circular knitting needles. Row 1 knit 10 stitches, purl 10 stitches, repeat till you finish. This the beginning of 13 squares across. Row 2 purl 10 stitches, knit 10 stitches, till you finish. Row 3 knit 10 stitches, purl 10 stitches till finish. Repeat, alternating until complete 12 rows. The nest 12 rows alternate stitches by starting with purl 10, knit 10, to create the next row of squares. I have 13 squares across, 15 squares long.

To make the edging, pick up cast on stitches on the border of the blanket, I like to do 3 for every hole, skip one, 3 for every hole, skip one til I have casted on the stitches for one side, purl 14 rows. Repeat for the other 3 sides.

Crocheting a shell boarder: starting at one of the corners of the blanket, chain 3,skip 2 holes, double crochet 5 times in the 3rd hole. skip 2 holes slip stitch repeat. Continue til you finish all 4 sides.
